Why Use Dental Teeth Whitening?

Having bright, white teeth is easier than you might have imagined. Even if your teeth are healthy and strong, you may still want to brighten and whiten them for a more attractive smile. Adams Dental can provide you with teeth whitening at the dental office that is effective, safe, fast, and inexpensive.

Dr. Pamela and Dr. Michael Adams will advise you on the best treatment to use for your teeth.

Teeth whitening types

Many products are available to whiten teeth, but the ones available from your dentist are the most effective and convenient.

Whitening toothpaste can help remove surface stains using mild abrasives and mild chemicals, but they are only likely to provide one shade of improvement. They do not contain the chemicals that are necessary for a deeper whitening—carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide.

Commercially available gels and strips may have a more significant effect than store-bought toothpaste, but they are a bit more inconvenient and must be used over an extended period.

Whitening rinses are convenient, but they are in contact with your teeth for such a short period that their limited benefits will be seen only after many weeks of use.

Other systems include tray-based teeth whiteners for home use. These must be used daily for up to four weeks—or even longer.

With dental whitening from Dr. Michael and Dr. Pamela Adams, you’ll be fitted for a custom, clear whitening tray which holds a teeth whitening solution to use for part of the day. Customization allows the bleaching solution to have maximum contact with the teeth and minimum contact with gum tissues. Of course, it’s essential to avoid irritation of sensitive gum tissues. With just a few hours of wearing the tray, you may see dramatic improvements in the coloration of your teeth. When you reach the desired brightness, you’ll need to treat occasionally to maintain your beautiful smile.

All of these products have advantages and disadvantages, so be sure to ask Dr. Adams for advice on the best brightening and whitening method for you.

How can I get started on a whiter, brighter smile?

Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to whiten your teeth.

When teeth have become discolored or stained due to medications, inherited traits, coffee, tea, or tobacco, the latest in whitening technology can usually help you regain a beautiful smile. In cases of extreme discoloration, crowns or veneers may be necessary, but in most cases, simpler methods are effective.

What does dental teeth whitening cost?
